My online presence seems to be ever expanding – not sure whether this is a good thing!
In addition to the social networking side of things
- ianam on Twitter
- Facebook – which I tend to keep more private for personal contacts
I now maintain several websites ranging in size from 1 to 100+ pages:
- nntk.net – Gallery 2 site, based on presenting images of various things that interest me, including material on/from Larry Law’s ‘Spectacular Times’, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Alan Bush and H.G.Wells
- hill107.net – WordPress site presenting material about the Battle of Arnhem and, to a lesser extent the Battle of Crete
- nowreading.info – a mishmash of a WordPress site about ‘Books, tweets and blogging’
- ianam on blogger – pure blog with some crossover with nowreading.info
- Nothing was Changed – small poetical Google site which I’d like to develop further
- Abernant & Cynon Valley links – simple Google site portal page which some people have found useful
- MACS filtering – work based Google site used for our school web filtering system
My personal photography is now online at ianam on Flickr
Then there’s the Amazon astores…
- nowreading
- nowlistening
- nowwatching
- nowgaming
- Hill107 bookstores for UK and US
…and the gaming sites and profiles
- ianam on Chess.com - obviously Chess online!
- IanAM ItsYourTurn.com
- XBox Live and World of Warcraft accounts
…and probably more….
Do I need to simplify all this? Is it all worthwhile time spent?
None of the websites are completely finished and polished, and it is probably telling that the one that is most focussed and concerns itself with a single subject – hill107.net – is the one that gets most traffic and the one I get most user response from. The random blog type sites get next to no traffic and no comment, apart from random spam, so seem to be entirely for my own pleasure!
Running the multiple sites does cost money so I feel obliged (guilt at throwing money on inconsequential pursuits!) to put adverts and Amazon Associates links on them which I do feel detracts from their presentation and functionality. All I can add to that is that they don’t make me any profit, but at least do [nearly!] cover my costs.
All thing for me to ponder on…
