According to Amazon, their Kindle application for Blackberry devices is not available outside the US and is not available for my Blackberry (the Curve 9300/3G).
Neither statement is true!
Going to amazon.com/kindlebb from a Blackberry browser in any country should allow you to download and install the Kindle application if you’re using one of the Blackberry models listed as supported by Amazon (Curve 8520 & 8900, Tour 9630, Bold 9000 & 9700, Storm 9500, 9530 & 9550, Torch 9800). The only proviso is that you can’t buy from the Kindle store using the application outside the US . Your existing Kindle books can however be downloaded, read and synced.
If you are not using one of the listed Blackberry models or, for some other reason, this install method fails, you can point your Blackberry browser directly to the Java application at
http://klamath.s3.amazonaws.com/r2b/kindle.jad
to download and install the Kindle application.
This second method has certainly worked on my Curve 9300 and this now appears as a registered device in my Kindle account. Thanks to the Crackberry.com forums for this advice.
I can’t see myself using the Blackberry for reading too much though – screen is far too small – but could be useful for quick reference or small moments of boredom!
